LeBron James and the Lakers go hunting big game.
Los Angeles’ backcourt had some serious problems last season, and the decision to acquire Dennis Schroder didn’t exactly pay dividends.
So now LeBron and LA are reportedly targeting some household names to help boost the point guard position: Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook are on their radar.
According to sources, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have been looking for a veteran point guard, and Paul is on the list. There has also been talk of Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook being a potential candidate to return home to Los Angeles in a sign-and-trade deal that could include free-agent point guard Dennis Schroder, forward Kyle Kuzma and forward Kyle Kuzma. guard Talen Horton-Tucker. sources said.

Anything involving Paul would likely hinge on Paul opting out of the huge $ 44 million a year left on his contract, a conclusion that is not necessarily likely. With the Suns heading to Game 6 of the NBA Finals, perhaps Paul will feel comfortable running with Phoenix for one more shot.
That, of course, won’t be the easiest road in the Western Conference: Phoenix would have to compete with (potentially) healthy teams from the Lakers and Warriors to get back into position this year.
If the Lakers choose to target Westbrook instead, they will have to get creative with a potential trade that would likely include Kyle Kuzma, picks (well, what’s left of them) and a signing and trade with Schroder.
Whether it brings Westbrook back to the West Coast or Paul reaches his destiny as Laker, expect Los Angeles’ depth chart to look very different next season.
